Click it and a button resembling a touchpad will be added to the system tray. Right click on the Synaptics Pointing Device icon located on the taskbar. On a Dell laptop, there’s a “Dell Touchpad” tab. In addition, you can tell Windows to automatically disable touchpad if a mouse is connected to the notebook. In the "Thinkpad" tab, you can check and uncheck to enable/disable either option. For example, on some Dell laptops, the setting to disable the touchpad is located in the Dell's support software.Some system have a separate key on the right of F12 key with a picture of a touchpad and X on it which enables and disables the touchpad. To make syndaemon start up by default each time you login, add it to the list of Startup Programs in System->Preferences->Sessions.
